Heartland was established in 1965 when a small visionary group gathered around a young pastor by the name of Bob Wenig to reach the small community of Ankeny. Since that time Ankeny has become one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa and Heartland is growing with it. Heartland has enjoyed the leadership of a number of great pastors in its history.

In 2002 Dave Olson assumed the leadership of Heartland. The following year the congregation purchased 22 acres of land north of town and a year later began construction on a new facility to accommodate the rapid growth resulting from a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit. Two years later another 16 acres were added to the campus.

Today hundreds of people travel from around central Iowa to encounter God, learn from His Word and be healed by His power.
